One day, a woman approached me and asked: “Are you only interested in the abstract world, and not the real world?” She mentioned that she was a professor of literature at Fordhaml university. I replied “But, this is the real world too, my folding art is a very small but direct channel to the universe. While it does not explain the universe, you can feel it directly without metaphor, association, or analogy. In my opinion it is beautiful. So yes, I am very interested in the real world that is beneath our daily life.” She was very receptive and immediately understood my perspective. I added that in my architectural practice we are currently applying these ideas to architecture: our daily life.
ある日、ある女性が話しかけてきた。この大学で文学を教えているという。「あなたは抽象的な世界に興味があるのね、でも現実の世界には興味はないのよね？」 私は大風呂敷を広げて答た。「これが現実の世界なんです。私のフォールディングはとても些細だけれど宇宙に直接に繋がっているんです。宇宙のあり方を説明しないけれど、それを感じることができます、メタファや連想を使わくても。現実の世界にわたしは興味があります, 日常生活では見えないから。」 聡明な彼女は直ちに私の言った意味を分かってくれた。(ついでに建築デザインに使いたいことも付け加えた。)
